Relax in the woods near Breda

Just outside Breda there are some beautiful old forests. This route takes you through the Sint-Annabos and the Boswachterij Dorst. You pass through Gilze and Dorst between these two nature reserves.

Sint-Annabos
The route starts in the middle of the Sint-Anna forest, which is part of the Baronie van Breda, an extensive forestry area. Some forest plots in this forest area are centuries old! Then you cycle through rural Brabant with its mix of meadows, fields and long-fronted farms.

Forestry Dorst
Via Gilze you drive to Boswachterij Dorst, a vast nature reserve. Here are mainly Scots pines that were planted on the heath in the early nineteenth century. It is so quiet here, ideal for a day of relaxation. Further on you pass through Dorst. Here you will see, among other things, the St. Mark's Church from 1912. You will also pass through Bolberg, a beautiful hamlet on the edge of Bavel. Finally, you cycle back into the Sint-Anna forest.
