Hardenberg, Overijssel, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 117361

Your route starts near the peat village of Dedemsvaart. From here you cycle to the Reestdal, an idyllic stream valley. The Reest is a peat stream that forms part of the border between Overijssel and Drenthe. Here and there you can see the border river meandering beautifully. The stream is still very narrow, especially near Dedemsvaart, a beautiful sight. Stop off for a cup of coffee at Sauna Thermen Zuidwolde! On the high sandy soils of Drenthe, in the middle of extensive swamp areas, a small esdorp arose in the Middle Ages: Zuudwolde, or Zuidwolde. The most beautiful sight in the esdorp is undoubtedly the De Vlijt windmill. The oak, octagonal belt mill from 1878 was used to grind grain. At the moment, only the hull remains, because the mill was dismantled in 2004.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
