Loosdrecht Tour

At the Loosdrechtse Plassen lies Boerderij Camping Doornenbal. An oasis of peace, between Amsterdam and Utrecht. From here you start this cycling tour around the Loosdrechtse Plassen. This area is characterized by the New Dutch Waterline. A total of 46 forts were built from the eighteenth century onwards to defend the Netherlands. Many of these beautiful forts and fortified towns can be found in this water-rich area. On this cycling route, right through Het Groene Hart, you cycle past the nineteenth-century Fort Tienhoven, for example. The Loosdrechtse Plassen are also well-known terrain for water sports enthusiasts. The lakes are connected to the river Amstel and were created by the extraction of peat. After about thirty kilometers around the lakes, you will arrive back at Boerderij Camping Doornenbal. Time to relax!
