Tour of Holten and Sallandse Heuvelrug

Your route starts at Recreatiebedrijf De Huttert. The landscape of the Sallandse Heuvelrug was formed 200,000 years ago by glaciers from Scandinavia. The ridge was once covered with heather, but now there are also forests to prevent sand drifts. The ancient juniper bushes are beautiful, as are the irregularly shaped old oak trees. One of the two remaining groups of grouse in the Netherlands still lives in this area. On the Sallandse Heuvelrug it is sometimes a bit of a climb. For example, the Noetselerberg is 60 meters high, the Haarlerberg 63 meters. But the views of the beautiful surroundings are a great reward for your effort.
