Description
You start in Flevoland. The bicycle and pedestrian ferry 'FLE-GEL' will take you between Zeewolde and Strand-Horst (Harderwijk). Take a break at the Mariahoeve Museum Farm! The wet peat area of the Arkemheen-Eemland National Landscape is as Dutch as it gets. Endless views, green meadows and grazing cows. These are the things you think of when you think of a Dutch landscape. In this area you can enjoy all the peace and quiet. Get off here at listening point I18-Putten - Putter Stoomgemaal. This steam pumping station kept the Zuiderzeepolder Arkemheen dry for almost a hundred years. After a thorough restoration by a group of volunteers, the steam pumping station has been restored to its former glory. When black smoke comes out of the chimney, the pumping station is in operation and open to visitors.
