Description
The Groene Hart is a wonderful place to cycle: it is a domain of peace in the busy Randstad. During this cycle route you will pass Gouda, which looks like a large open-air museum, and Reeuwwijk. You will cycle along angular bends right through the Reeuwijk lakes. Enjoy the typical Dutch landscape that passes you by. Don't cycle too fast, but take everything at your leisure - that way you can really slow down a bit. Take a break at Beijersche schuur, shop & tea room! Oudewater obtained city rights in 1265 and is therefore the oldest city in the Groene Hart. In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Oudewater was an important producer of rope for which a lot of hemp was grown. Nice to look around, stay here for a while and soak up the atmosphere!
