After an overnight stay at the ISVW Estate, you set off. Today you will see many more estates, which makes it an appropriate place to stay! You soon cycle to Huize Ten Treek, already mentioned as a farm in 1337. It is named after a tree on which official municipal notices were posted. There was already a fortified house on the site of the noble House Scherpenzeel in the fourteenth century. It acquired its symmetrical and graceful appearance in the mid-nineteenth century. At the time when the Netherlands still had several states governed by bishops, counts, dukes and landlords, Scherpenzeel was still called 'Scarpenzele'. The last part (\\\'zeel\\\') refers to a fortified house, the first part indicates sharp poles around the village: the prototype of an old castle.
