The many faces of Gelderland (429473)

Ancient forests, vast moors, lush valleys, a rich history and the floodplains along a meandering river: Gelderland is anything but boring. In the flowering period it seems as if you are looking out over a purple sea. When you drive back into the forest, it is as if you are swallowed by the silence. At Renkum you drive through an ancient stream valley. The wheels of water mills once turned here. Nowadays cyclists like to turn their pedals and wheels to enjoy this undulating nature reserve.<b>Liberation Route</b>At Wageningen you pass L51, a listening point from the Liberation Route where you learn about the food transports that followed after the hunger winter started as a result of negotiations between the German occupiers and the Allies. Just before Rhenen you drive up the Grebbeberg. Here you have a beautiful view over the river valley. A wonderful break. After cycling through the woods, you enter the Gelderse Vallei. At Hugo\\\'s Pannenkoeken it is time for a refreshing stopover.
