Cycle route along the Mills of Menameradiel

!This route includes a ferry crossing! Those who love windmills and landscape will be delighted with this tour. Picturesque places and landscapes complement and complement each other. With the ever beautiful views of the villages of the municipality of Menameradiel, you will become acquainted with the clay soils and the rich history that this area has. When the windmills are running, they can be viewed free of charge. We wish you lots of cycling fun on behalf of the Mills Foundation in Menameradiel. The long version goes via Ritsumaijl. The shorter one goes via the Aldlan towards the Puollen. The start of the route starts at the carpool place near Marsum (A31/N383). The route then passes windmill Terpzigt and then via Ritsumazijl to the van Harinxsma canal. Once past the village of Deinum you will see the American wind engine Heechhiem on the left side across the canal. After following the canal you will arrive at windmill De Puollen and then head towards Dronrijp. There is also a war memorial on the bridge of Dronrijp. From here you continue towards the Hatsumer mill and mill Kingmatille. From here you can cross with a ferry to continue the route. NB! The ferry does not operate in the winter months. If the ferry is not sailing, you must take the road back to Dronrijp and then at the Tinq gas station take the route back to mill de Steward. When you pass the Rentmeester you enter the main town of the municipality of Menameradiel, Menaam. Here you can do some shopping or take a breather at the waterfront next to the supermarket. Then you go towards windmill de Kievit. After this you will pass through the greenhouse area of Berlikum and from there you will go back to Marsum. As the last windmill you will come to the Marsumer windmill. From here you cycle back to the start of this tour.
