De Groote Heide, also called Leenderheide, together with the Leenderbos forms a beautiful extensive nature reserve. You will find romantic fens, such as the Appelven and the Peerven. Thanks to the planting of coniferous trees, fly pine forests have emerged. There is also a dry oak and birch forest, for even more variety. Picturesque meadows give the heathland an extra dimension. The tour takes you past the Venbergsemolen, a watermill located on the Dommel. The exact year of construction of the mill is unknown, but the first mention dates back to 1227. At that time the mill was owned by a sister order. You will also discover the beautiful authentic villages in the area.
