Rotterdam, South Holland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 116305
Provided by: Groots Genieten
This fun cycling route takes you past four beautiful Rotterdam windmills and through the beautifully landscaped Kralingse Bossen around the Kralingse Plas. Mills De Ster and De Lelie are the only working snuff and spice mills in the Netherlands. They can be visited regularly. De Ster was first mentioned in writing in a will from 1830. The mill was then called 'De Nieuwe Star', but burned down in 1865. The Ster is being rebuilt with parts from a mill from the region and equipped as a snuff and spice mill. Today, De Ster is a working museum. De Lelie is older than De Ster, the first mention dates from 1777. You also drive a long way along the Rotte, a meandering peat river.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
