Description
The Utrechtse Heuvelrug is full of natural beauty. Heathlands, open sandy plains and deciduous and coniferous forests alternate in a gently sloping landscape. Two ecoducts help wildlife find their way in the nature reserve, which is inhabited by badgers, lizards, foxes, deer, deer and wild boars.
You will find several estates among the large green areas. The route takes you past the Quatre Bras estate, among other things. This estate covers almost 2000 hectares and is privately owned. A little further away is the De Hoogt estate. Here a country house dominates the estate on a higher part of the site. The former country house consisted of only the middle part of the building, but in 1925 the house was significantly expanded with a balcony on Tuscan columns, several dormer windows in the roof shields and three French doors in the first floor. Very impressive to see.
