National Landscape
The Hoeksche Waard is one of the national landscapes of the Netherlands. Here you can enjoy the vast ancient polders and the many creeks and dikes. An ideal region to get a breath of fresh air and cycle away from the everyday hustle and bustle.
Riparian countries
The meandering Keizersdijk, which you drive over in Cillarshoek, was part of the main route between Amsterdam and Paris for centuries. It is named after Emperor Karel V. Strijen is the oldest place in the Hoeksche Waard, you can see some beautiful monumental buildings here. Numansdorp was hit in 1953 by the flood disaster. You can admire the village church from 1653 here. Further on you look to the right over the De Oeverlanden nature reserve.
