Enjoying along the Grensmaas

Soon you cross the Julianakanaal, where you cycle along a shady path along the meadows. You cycle through Geulle on the Maas, after which you cross the river and the border with Belgium via a ferry. From the bank you have beautiful views over the water, on the horizon you see the rolling Dutch hills. You cycle through Oud-Rekem, which in 2008 was voted 'Most beautiful village in Flanders'. What a beautiful historical atmosphere! Further on you cycle through the slightly rolling forests of the Hoge Kempen National Park. Enjoy the natural beauty and the silence. On both sides of the border you then cycle through Rivierpark Maasvallei. The landscape here consists of a mosaic of riverbanks, stream channels, gravel pools and flowery floodplains. You also pass through the picturesque old village centre of Urmond.
