Description
The Veenroute is a journey into the past of this German-Dutch border region. A region where, only a few generations ago, landowners fought each other over territorial issues. There were always quarrels over the border. Border treaties had to be brought in to calm things down. Those treaties brought about changes for the people who lived here. From that moment on, the national border was marked with border markers for more than 200 years.
Boundary posts and stones in all kinds of shapes still show how the border - which has now almost lost its meaning - has run.
