Watermill Route Eight Beatitudes

Your cycle route starts at Hotel De Bengel in Eersel. Here you can park your car for free. On the route you will also encounter two beautiful water mills. The first mill you pass is the Volmolen in Waalre. The originally medieval mill was destroyed by a storm in 1962. Today, the rebuilt mill is used to generate electricity. Via the hamlet of Riethoven you cycle to the Stevertse Molen. This is an undershot water mill on a bridge over the Run. The mill was destroyed in 1702 by the Spanish and French during the War of the Spanish Succession, but was rebuilt afterwards. Steensel is one of the typical Kempen villages of the Acht Zalheden. Stop here for a cup of coffee or a delicious lunch at Restaurant Lekkerr Steensel.
