Description

Your route starts at Grandcafé de Zeedijk. From Onderdijk you drive to Wervershoof. Here you pass De Hoop, a flour mill from 1889. In 2010 it was voted the most beautiful mill in North Holland. Since 2013, the mill has housed a museum dedicated to Theo Koomen, the legendary sports reporter. In Zwaagdijk-Oost you will see some monumental bell-shaped farms, and in Hauwert you will pass the fifteenth-century Nicholas Church. Then you continue to the Egboetswater, a small-scale nature reserve that consists of a mix of forest, water and meadows. It is wonderfully quiet here, which is why many water birds settle here to forage. Further on you drive along the west side of the Groote Vliet inland lake. Here too you will find a variety of grasslands, reedlands and forests.
