Discover Brabant villages near Roosendaal

Between Rucphen and Roosendaal there is a beautiful green forest area where a cover sand ridge with heath and drifting sand areas was originally found. Take a bike ride through this area and discover the forests that were planted in this area in the twentieth century.

Admiring windmills
Get on your bike and ride from one cozy Brabant village to the next. Along the way you can fully enjoy the peace and quiet of nature, but you will also come across various sights. At the beginning of the route you can, for example, take a look at De Heimolen, a belt mill from 1866. The mill was in regular operation until the end of the twentieth century, but then the mill fell into disrepair. The mill was restored in 2008 and now runs occasionally on a voluntary basis. A little further along the route you will pass the De Toekomst mill. This mill was built in 1862 and has been restored several times over the centuries.

A historic abbey
Bovendonk Conference Center is part of the Bovendonk Abbey. This abbey was built as a seminary in 1907 according to a design by Pierre Cuypers, but due to a lack of students it was closed in 1967. The building stood empty for eleven years, but was put into use as a reflection center in 1978 by the Bovendonk Foundation. Since 1996, a large part of the building has been used as a conference center.
