Description

North of Roden you will find beautiful water-rich nature. The Lettelberter Petten is a low peat area that was created around 1900 by digging peat for fuel supply. This is how the polder with the Leekstermeer was created. On the border of Roden you will find the manor Landhuis Mensinge from 1381, a beautiful museum. Nienoord Estate is best known for the former Borg Nienoord. A nineteenth-century country house now stands on the spot where the castle was built in 1525. There are several attractions on the estate, such as the National Carriage Museum. Finally, in Lettelbert you can view a small, squat church from the thirteenth century. Remains from this period can be seen in the north wall.
