Borg Nienoord, Havezate Mensinge and a hunebed

North of Roden you will find beautiful water-rich nature. The Lettelberter Petten is a low moor area that was created around 1900 by the excavation of peat for fuel supply. This is how the polder with the Leekstermeer was created. On the border of Roden you will find Manor Mansion Mensinge from 1381, a beautiful museum. Landgoed Nienoord is best known for the former Borg Nienoord. A nineteenth-century country house now stands on the spot where the borg was built in 1525. Various attractions are located on the estate, such as the National Carriage Museum. Finally, in Lettelbert you can view a small, squat church from the thirteenth century. Remains from this period can be seen in the north wall.
