Bicycle route Ermelo, Strand Horst and the Veluwe

Around Ermelo, you can enjoy a relaxing day of cycling. From the edge of the Ermelose Heide, you ride along the cycle path into the Speulderbos, one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands. The deeper you ride into the forest, the quieter it becomes. Next, you cycle a stretch through the polders west of Putten. Here, you pass De Vanenburg, among other places, a country estate whose history dates back to the seventeenth century. The manor house underwent a makeover in an eclectic style during the nineteenth century. You cycle for several kilometers along the boulevard beside the Nuldernauw. At Strand Horst, you can enjoy a nice lunch at Drift Beachclub, after which you ride a bit further along the Wolderwijd. Finally, on the Ermelose Heide, you pass the remains of a Roman marching camp.
