On Walcheren you will find plenty of peace and space. You also drive through some interesting villages, such as Zoutelande and Koudekerke.
Zoutelande
First you cycle to Dishoek. Just behind the dunes you then drive through a mosaic of deciduous groves, meadows and dune thickets. Further on is Zoutelande, a popular seaside resort. Here you pass the Zoutelandse Molen, a flour mill from 1862. You can also take a look at the Catharinakerk. The oldest parts of the tower date from the thirteenth century. Most of the present church dates from 1738.
Meliskerke
In the polders you drive on car-free roads past meadows, rows of trees and fields. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for taking your mind off things. You pass the Meliskerke, a flour mill from 1801. Just before junction 52 you pass the chapel of Hoogelande, a remnant of a church that was largely destroyed during the Eighty Years' War. On the edge of Koudekerke you pass De Lelie from 1872.
