Description

From Rijswijk you can take a nature-rich bike ride to the coast. First you enter the green belt on the west side of The Hague. Via the Uithofpark you drive to Madestein, a nature reserve that was created in 1969 in 2 polders. Here you will find a landscape of ponds, reed collars, forest and lawns. Further on you pass through Ockenburgh Estate, a wooded country estate that originally dates from the seventeenth century. The route leads you through the dunes along the edge of Kijkduin, after which you cycle a bit through the gently sloping Westuinpark. Finally, you drive to the famous Zuiderpark. This area was constructed in the interwar period and is considered the first Dutch public park. The route ends with a delicious meal at Brasserie Almost Thuis / Hotel Hoevevoorde.
