Round Table Mountain Heath: Bussum, Laren and Huizen

Your route starts at Q-Bike in Laren. First you will discover the vast Westerheide, which is wedged between Bussum, Hilversum and Laren. This area was formed in the ice age and clay loam, sand and gravel were extracted in the past. The Westerheide also has centuries-old burial mounds, some of which are very close to the road. Take a break in the nice little fortified town of Naarden! On the Tafelbergheide you will later find a wealth of special flowers and herbs. The heath is about 200,000 years old and the differences in height were already formed in the Ice Age. Cycling through the rolling area you have a beautiful view of the loam pits, which were created when the former inhabitants extracted clay from the heath to build their farms.
