On the road through the Kootwijkerzand and the Houtdorperveld

Extensive landscapes in the Veluwe alternate with the quiet, dense forests for which the area is known. These forests are the habitat of all kinds of animals. Think of deer, red deer, foxes, hares and other small animals. If you are here early in the day or around dusk, you might catch a glimpse of the wildlife on the Veluwe. For the rest of the day you will hear the drumming of the spotted woodpecker everywhere in the woods. You also cycle past the grounds of Radio Kootwijk . This transmitting station was built in the 1920s to have radio telegraphic contact with the then Dutch East Indies. The transmitting station is now a monumental building.

Gasterij't Hillletje
The start and end point of this route is at Gasterij't Hillletje. For more than 100 years, this has been the place to enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner during or after a trip through the Veluwe. You can also spend the night in one of the comfortable hotel rooms. From here you can also follow route 115764.

Sheepfold
The sheepfolds of Hoog-Buurlo can be found at Boswachterij Ugchelen in the Ugchelse Bos. The herd of Veluwe heath sheep reside here at night and graze the heath during the day. The sheepfolds are part of a small centuries-old settlement in the middle of oak and beech forests. The old settlement also consists of two houses, stately beech avenues and fields with wild banks. You really feel like you're going back in time a few centuries here.
