Tour of Strabrechtse Heide and Heeze Castle

Your cycle route starts in the woods around Heeze. Just before Heeze you pass Heeze Castle, one of the last inhabited castles in the Netherlands. From the seventeenth century, the castle has been renovated and expanded a number of times. The original keep, which now forms the middle part of the castle, dates back to the Middle Ages. Take a break at Lunchcafé & Patisserie Beyond, in cozy Nuenen! Then you make a beautiful route along the fens on the Braakhuizense and the Strabrechtse Heide. They not only attract lizards, but also moor frogs and common toads. And sundew, bell gentian, white and brown beak rush, field fluff and gale grow well in the dry area. A herd of 300 Kempian sheep grazes on the Lieropse Heide.
