Tour of Reuver and Swalmen

The area between the Maas and the German border in North Limburg is wonderfully quiet and green. You will find extensive forests such as the German Brachter Wald that merge into the Municipal Forests of Swalmen, but there are also charming villages here. High time to explore this beautiful area by bike.

The Brachter Wald
The bike tour starts in Reuver at De Witte Stein. You can drink a delicious cup of coffee here before you start the cycling tour or enjoy a dinner when you have finished cycling. From here you cycle to the border with Germany and follow the edge of the Brachter Wald for a while. Until 1996, this area served as a depot for ammunition for the British armed forces. Only recently has the area become accessible to walkers and cyclists again. These quiet forests merge into the Diergardtscher Wald and the Municipal Forests Swalmen.

Historical cultural village Beesel
Once you have left the woods behind you, you will arrive at the village of Swalmen. Then you cycle to the Historical Cultural Village of Beesel. Beesel is a characteristic church village with monumental buildings, a cozy market square, surrounded by greenery and located on the Maas. In this village you can taste the age-old traditions, the hospitality of the people and the strong sense of community.

Wijngaard Hoeve Roozendaal
Via Beesel you follow the contours of the Maas towards Reuver. You pass Wijngaard Hoeve Roozendaal. Hoeve Roozendael is located on the estate of the same name southwest of Reuver. It is located in a quiet area surrounded by gardens, forests and vineyards. Via Reuver you arrive back at the end point of the route: De Witte Stein.
