Waalre, North Brabant, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 115652
Provided by: Groots Genieten
From Waalre, you first cycle to Aalst. Here you'll pass, among other things, the Aalstermolen, a grain mill dating from 1904. A little later, you'll cycle through three contiguous nature reserves: the Groote Heide, the Valkenhorst Estate, and the Leenderbos. You'll cycle mainly among conifers, such as Scots pines, which were once used to supply timber for the Limburg mines. There are also some rough grasslands and heathlands along your route. From the saddle, you'll enjoy a magnificent view of these. On the edge of Valkenswaard, you'll pass two watermills on the Dommel River. First, you'll pass the centuries-old Venbergse Molen, and further on, the Dommelse Molen. Just outside Valkenswaard, you'll see the Volmolen, also located on the Dommel River.
