Description
You follow the banks and foothills of the IJssel for miles and get to know the river up close. You will also see the nineteen polder mills of Kinderdijk. You start the cycle route in Oud-Alblas. You cycle to Ridderkerk via Papendrecht and Barendrecht. Take a break in Rotterdam at Café-Restaurant De Gouden Leeuw! Get on your bike and explore the banks of the IJssel. Then it is time to cycle towards Kinderdijk, a windmill that has been on the World Heritage List since 1997. Because of its special appearance, the area attracts many tourists. The 19 windmills of Kinderdijk symbolize the way in which the Netherlands deals with water. You cycle back to Oud-Alblas along the intriguing river Alblas. Water, mills and polders: the Netherlands in its own right!
