Description

Flevoland has more nature to offer than just the (rightly) praised Oostvaardersplassen. This route takes you through the Horsterwold. With about 4200 hectares, this is the largest contiguous deciduous forest in Western Europe. You will see chestnuts, oaks, poplars and cherry trees. It is nice and quiet here and fresh, a pleasure to cycle through. Part of the route you have beautiful views over the rippling water of the Nuldernauw. You then cycle a bit along the Stille Kern of the Horsterwold. This sub-area of 1200 hectares has the rugged character of a real primeval forest, a real natural gem.
