Tour of Grolloo and Orvelte

You start at Holiday Park Diana Heide. This route takes you through the Heart of Drenthe and through Orvelte and Grolloo. The Heart of Drenthe is more than 5,000 hectares of contiguous nature reserve where you sometimes get the feeling of cycling through the wilderness. You drive through a mosaic of forests, heathlands and whimsical streams. It is still old-fashioned quiet in Drenthe! Grolloo is a beautiful esdorp, where you can admire some beautiful Saxon farms. Orvelte, which is more than a thousand years old, is home to many historical sights. It is not without reason that it scores high on lists of the most beautiful Dutch villages. In a number of old buildings you can see - sometimes for a fee - how sawyers, blacksmiths and glassblowers lived and worked in earlier times. Extra nice: Orvelte is car-free!
