Grouw is a beautiful old town on the Pikmeer, one of the Frisian Lakes. You can admire, among other things, the Romanesque thirteenth-century St. Peter's Church. Can't get enough of old-fashioned ferries? Good, because you need another one to cross to De Veenhoop. At Goëngahuizen you will pass three old polder windmills. They are all three of the spider head type. Cycling through the polders, you will not only notice the views, but also the invigorating tranquility. In the beautiful village of Nes there is still an authentic Frisian bell chair. In the adjacent and equally charming Akkrum you can make a pit stop at Eetcafé Kromme Knilles. A real village pub with a cozy living room atmosphere and the food is delicious!
