Brabant conviviality in the picturesque villages of Mierlo, Geldrop and Heeze and a vast oasis of peace in the heathlands that surround this inhabited world alternate during this beautiful cycling route. Historical and natural values are intertwined in this beautiful part of North Brabant.
You depart from a (free) parking lot on the Somerense Heide and almost immediately cross the Lieropse Heide, part of the Strabrechtse Heide. This nature reserve is approximately 500 hectares in size and has both great ecological and cultural-historical values. In the heart of the Strabrechtse Heide lies the open drifting sand area, the Galgenberg, with typical vegetation that includes spurrie, sheep grass and bunt.
If you want to recover from this beautiful tour, take a break at Tapperij De Zwaan. Relax here and then finish the rest of the tour.
The location of the castle in nature is breathtaking and the 18th-century furnishings have remained virtually intact, despite the castle being inhabited. The first mention of the castle dates back to 1172, where the building is mentioned on a deed. Over the centuries, the complex was expanded. There is a moat around the fortress, which consists of two parts. The medieval castle bears the name Eymerick, but there is also a newer castle that dates back to the 17th century.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
