Description

The Oostappense Heide used to be a heathland area, but now it mainly consists of forests. The planted Scots pine and fly pine cover approximately 120 hectares, although sometimes you have views through the trees to remnants of the heath. The Puddingberg, a drifting sand area, and the Prinsenmeer, a dug swimming lake, are also surrounded by trees. The Galgenberg is located next to the Oostappense Heide and is a forest area of young plantations of Scots pine and Norway spruce on a former drifting sand area. The trees grow on 290 hectares between Liessel and Vlierden. A young population of badgers thrives here and builds its castles between the trees. The only time this route takes you into built-up areas is in Someren.
