Tour of Maarheeze and Strabrechtse Heide

Your route starts at Cafe-Terras Ons Lieske. You first drive to Heeze Castle, beautifully situated in nature. What is special is that the furnishings from the 18th century have remained almost completely intact. The history of the castle goes all the way back to 1172. The Strabrechtse Heide extends between the Brabant villages of Geldrop-Mierlo, Someren and Heeze. The area is approximately 1,500 hectares and the heathland has some variety due to the presence of many fens. In the middle of the nature reserve, the heathland changes into a drifting sand area, which is carefully maintained. On the heath is the place where the borders of Heeze, Maarheze, Someren, Lierop and Mierlo used to meet: the Hoenderboom, recognizable by the border post.
