Haren: the Wassenaar of the north

The route starts at the Winschoterdiep and quickly leads you to the beautiful village of Haren. Beautiful, spacious villas dominate the street scene. There is also enjoyment here outside the village. Haren is located on the northern spur of the Hondsrug, where you cycle through a hilly, watery and green area. A little later you cycle through the Appelbergen forest, where you can sit down for a pancake at Pannenkoekhuis Paviljoen Appelbergen. Wonderful when it's a bit chilly! Then you drive to the Zuidlaardermeer, which was created thousands of years ago by the Hunze. This was still a tidal river at the time. Due to a temporary rise in sea level, the peat layer was locally washed away. The lake is located approximately partly in Drenthe and partly in the province of Groningen!
