You also drive along the meandering Oude Rijn. Kamerik originated as a ribbon village along the Kamerikse Wetering, a twelfth-century waterway that was dug to reclaim this area. You will see beautiful monumental buildings along the waterway.
The hair
Kockengen is a quaint old mining village. The name comes from Cocagne, the French name for "Lucky Land". Around the village you cycle through the so-called cope landscape with its characteristic narrow plots. De Haar Castle is the largest castle in the Netherlands. The castle originally dates from the fourteenth century, the current castle was rebuilt in 1892 in neo-Gothic style. Finally, you cycle through the beautifully landscaped Máxima Park and you pass Castellum Hoge Woerd.
