A tour along the lakes and the Meije

This cycle route leads you through water-rich polders and an extensive peat meadow area, but also along medieval watercourses that lie between small, characteristic villages in the Vecht region. The route starts at the Tourist Transfer Point (TOP) Oortjespad. In this visitor center you can get all the information you need about the area before you start cycling the route. Along the river De Meije you will see old farms and the almost sixty meter high white water tower from 1932. Today you will discover the Dutch Fens, a water-rich lowland around the Nieuwkoopse Plassen, among others. They form some of the last extensive low peat areas in the Netherlands. Then you drive along the beautifully winding Vecht and the Loosdrechtse Plassen back to your starting point.
