Description

You get on your bike in the green area between Markelo and Goor. From here you set course for Diepenheim, known for its many castles. Between Diepenheim and Hengevelde you cycle past water mill Den Haller. This mill was built in 1169. In 2005 the mill was completely restored. The mill is powered for the Diepenheimse Molenbeek. Until 1970, the mill was still used daily by the farmers in the area. Today, the mill is regularly open to the public. Get off for a break at Restaurant de Hoeve! You drive back past Havezate Westerflier, one of those four castles that played an important role in Diepenheim's history. The current mansion dates from 1729, but the estate on which the house is located is much older.
