Six villages along the Maas around Wanssum

The starting point of this route is in Wanssum. From here you cycle along the Maas to Blitterswijck and then on to Meerlo. The village of Meerlo is bisected by the meandering Groote Moolenbeek. Then you cycle through Oostrum to Venray and further in the direction of Maarhees and Geijsteren. You cycle past the Boshuizenbergen forest area and the Geijsteren estate. The estate is a nature reserve of approximately 700 hectares west of the village of Geijsteren. Via the village of Geijsteren you cycle back to Wanssum Marina / Café van Wieren. You can have a snack and a drink at the café in the harbor. You are probably ready for that after your bike ride to gain some new energy. Oostrum is one of the oldest places of pilgrimage of Mary in the Netherlands.
