Description

This route introduces you to the most beautiful windmills in the Netherlands. But first you drive along the banks of the Noord, one of the few tidal rivers in the Netherlands. On the right you pass some beautiful monumental buildings. In Kinderdijk you cycle along the Lek for a while, after which you drive onto the famous Molenkade. Here you can see the 19 windmills of Kinderdijk, which have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. These polder mills were built from the end of the fourteenth century, but the remaining mills date from 1738 and 1740. Keep in mind that this path can be very busy with (foreign) tourists. Further on you drive past the Kortlandse Mill from 1890. You cycle back through the beautiful Kerkstraat to Het Wapen Van Alblasserdam.
