Tour of Haaksbergerveen from Enschede

It offers a varied nature with grazing Scottish Highlanders. The Haaksbergerveen is a true bird paradise. Marshy raised bogs and vast heathlands alternate with forests and grasslands. In the distance a flock of sheep grazes. Frogs croak in a hidden pool, the reed bunting sings in a reed collar. An awakening viper warms up in the morning sun. The Haaksbergerveen or Buurserveen is a unique primeval peat, where peat was still cut on the German side until a few years ago. This beautiful route is richly endowed with natural beauty. Hundreds of hectares of forest, heathland and peat areas, with meadows in between. At the end of the route you cycle back into Enschede for a dose of city culture.
