Along the Scheldt-Rhine Canal

You start this cycle route on the edge of Halsteren on the Brabantse Wal, at Boerderij Den Hof. Within the village you can see height differences of up to 10 meters! From Halsteren you cross the Scheldt-Rhine Canal. Tholen has a historic city center, which is still largely surrounded by ramparts and fortresses. Then you cycle to 't Wagenhuis in Nieuw-Vossemeer for a cup of coffee. During the flood disaster, the electricity house on the Nieuw-Vossemeersedijk was blown away, causing the village to immediately become isolated. The entire village and the polders had been flooded for two days before the rescue and evacuation started. During this cycle route you will also pass the Assumburg mill, a former corn mill in Nieuw-Vossemeer that was built in 1780 as an oil mill and stood in the Zaan region until 1897.
