Description

This cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at Camping De La Rue Koffie & Zo in Sleeuwijk. From here you drive to Werkendam and Steurgat. This fort is part of the New Dutch Waterline and was built in 1881. The fort served to close off the Merwede. Then you cycle into the beautiful nature of the Biesbosch, one of the few freshwater areas in the world where there is an ebb and flow. It is beautifully rugged here, very special. A little further on you cross the water with the bicycle ferry, so take some change with you! Via Hank you return to Werkendam. Along the way you will pass Fort Bakkerskil from 1878, also part of the New Dutch Waterline. Step off and take a look!
