Description
This beautiful cycling route begins in Landsmeer, amidst the green peat meadows and the blue of ditches, waterways, and ponds. It starts at Café de Driesprong. Here, after a long day outdoors, you can enjoy a delicious snack and drink on the (heated) terrace. Landsmeer is a beautiful and popular area with two important nature reserves: the Ilperveld and the Twiske. The Ilperveld consists of marshes, grasslands, reed beds, and water. You cycle through the recreation area Het Twiske, which takes its name from the Twisck river that formed the open connection between the Wormer and the IJ. As you continue cycling, you'll arrive in Monnickendam. This small town lies on the Gouwzee, just north of Amsterdam, and boasts a beautiful historic city center that has been well preserved over time.
