Round Waterland

This beautiful cycle route starts in Landsmeer in the middle of the green of the peat meadow area and the blue of ditches, canals and lakes. You start at Café de Driesprong. Here you can enjoy a tasty snack and drink on the (heated) terrace after a long day in the open air. Landsmeer is a beautiful and popular area with two important nature reserves; the Ilperveld and the Twiske. The Ilperveld consists of marshes, grasslands, reed beds and water. You cycle right through the Het Twiske recreation area, which owes its name to the river Twisck, which formed the open connection between the Wormer and the IJ. As soon as you continue cycling you will end up in Monnickendam. This small city is located on the Gouwzee, just above Amsterdam and has a beautiful historic city center that has been well preserved over time.
