You will find plenty of natural beauty and sights around the Loosdrechtse Plassen. You also drive along the Vecht: that means counting villas!
Fight
From here you can drive straight into the Loosdrechtse Bos. Then you cycle through's-Gravenland and Kortenhoef, two picturesque hamlets. Further on is the Gabriël, a polder mill from 1635. On the Vecht it is beautiful to cycle along grasslands and Fort Nieuwersluis. You will also pass the many country estates that the Amsterdam elite had built here in the Golden Age.
Sypesteyn Castle
Cycling along the Loosdrechtse Plassen is wonderful. You will see reed beds, swamp forest and of course rippling water. Boomhoek is a beautiful hamlet where you can admire monumental farms. Sypesteyn Castle is a beautiful moated castle that was rebuilt at the beginning of the twentieth century on the foundations of its predecessor. There is a museum in the castle, and you can also visit the castle garden.
