Tour Utrechtse Heuvelrug

The history of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug can be felt everywhere. Because of the many estates and castles, but also because of the great military significance that the area has had. During this route you will get to know the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and its surroundings.

Utrecht Hill Ridge
The starting point of this route is in the middle of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug at Café & Terrace Beauforthuis. From here you can explore the nature reserve excellently. Start with a nice cup of coffee and a tasty snack from the organic menu and then go out! The Beauforthuis is a theater café, so you may want to hang around for a concert or theater performance. You then start your cycling route through the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. On this ridge you stand in the largest forest in the Randstad and you have a view over the river landscape.

The Den Treek estate
The Den Treek estate is also worth a visit. On this estate, which was already mentioned in 1337, there is a coach house with servant's house, a gardener's house, farm'De Ossenstal\\\' and a picturesque hunting lodge from the year 1838. These buildings, with the exception of the gardener's house, are , expanded, remodeled or restored at any point during time.

Tangible history
An attraction during the bike ride includes the Military Aviation Museum. The museum, located on the former Soesterberg airbase, shows the military history of the Netherlands. The collection includes the largest collection of tanks, aircraft, armored vehicles and helicopters in the Netherlands, each with a special story. A little later you will pass the Soesterberg Air Force Monument.
