Loonse en Drunense Duinen National Park is a unique area with extensive drifting sandy soils. Not far from here you will encounter a lot of water, in the Oisterwijkse Vennen. There are also numerous castles between these two natural gems!
Nemerlaer
You drive via the fourteenth-century Nemerlaer Castle to Zwijnsbergen Castle: founded around 1552 as a simple house with a moat around it. Then you drive to the Loonse and Drunense Duinen, a sandy plain lined by forests that is home to many different animal and plant species that can withstand heat and cold. If you want to see the drifting sand, get off at junction 36 and walk into the area!
Battle farm
The estate on which De Strijdhoeve Castle stands used to extend from Uden to the Zandleij river. A little later you enter Oisterwijk, which was given city rights as early as the thirteenth century. The rich history can still be seen in the monumental buildings, especially in the old marketplace of De Lind. On the way back to your starting point you will pass a few beautiful fens, such as the beautiful Staalbergven. So definitely get off!
