Tour of the Drentsche Aa from Gasselte

Your route starts at Camping het Horstmannsbos. Join us on an exploration through the Drentsche Aa National Park, the best preserved stream and esdorp landscape in Western Europe. The identity of this 150-year-old esdorp landscape has been beautifully preserved. All around you you will see beautiful old Saxon farms. You will discover quite a few esdorpen, such as the beautiful Anderen and Gasteren. Saxon farms around the village green, fields on the rounded es and hayfields in the lower stream valley: this is a truly authentic landscape. You will also cycle along the Zeegserduinen, a drifting sand area with heath, pine, birch and oak. A little later you will look out from the cycle path onto the stream valley of the Schipborgsediep, as the Drentsche Aa is called here. Buttercups, orchids and blue buttons bloom along the water.
