Tour of Drentsche Aa from Gasselte

Your route starts at Camping het Horstmannsbos. Join us on an exploration of De Drentsche Aa National Park, the best preserved stream and esdorp landscape in Western Europe. The identity of this 150-year-old esdorp landscape has been beautifully preserved. All around you you see beautiful old Saxon farms. You will discover a number of esdorps, such as the beautiful Andere and Gasteren. Saxon farms around the village green, fields on the rounded ash trees and hay fields in the lower stream valley: this is truly an authentic landscape. You also cycle past the Zeegserduinen, a drifting sand area with heath, fly, birch and oak. A little later you will look out from the cycle path onto the Schipborgsediep stream valley, as the Drentsche Aa is called here. Marsh marigolds, orchids and blue knot bloom along the water.
