Round Hortus Haren

A wonderful route if you not only want to cycle, but also like to spend a few hours to discover a beautiful spot. There is much to experience around Haren, but the real attraction can be found in the village itself: Hortus Haren.

Hortus Haren
The route starts from the parking lot in Haren. Soon you can get off again, because you will pass Hortus Haren, the most famous landmark of the village. The various gardens together cover twenty hectares: you will find, for example, a Chinese garden, an English garden, a water garden, a rock garden, a bamboo garden and Celtic gardens. You will also find different parrot species in an aviary at Hortus Haren. A must if you are around here.

Vineyard
You drive along the Winschoterdiep to the Foxholster and Zuidlaardermeer. Nearby you can enjoy a nice terrace at Pannenkoekhuis Paviljoen Appelbergen, in the woods and moors of the beautiful nature reserve Appelbergen. In the village of Glimmen you will find a vineyard: Domein de Tarquinius. The vineyard is over 3000 square meters in size and is full of vines from which red and white grapes are harvested. Note: On this route you cross the water with a ferry. Check in advance whether the ferry is sailing, because that can vary per season.
