Tour of Zwillbrocker Venn from Winterswijk

Your route starts at Restaurant De Voortwisch. First you take a tour to Willinks Weust. The groundwater remains in the calcareous soil and that creates a lot of variation. You will see beautiful deciduous forests full of plants and animals, from oak-hornbeam forests to old oak forests. On car-free roads you drive through a small-scale landscape of winding streams, forests, fields and hedgerows. Time stands a bit still here. Just across the border you cycle through the rugged swamp of the Zwillbrocker Venn, one of the oldest nature reserves in Germany. This is the northernmost breeding area for flamingos in Europe, you can spot them between March and June. On the way back you will pass recreational lake't Hilgelo. Here you will discover the Sevink Mölle, a round stone mill from 1867.
